How to Capture Your Dog’s Paw or Nose Print for Jewellery

Dogs are more than pets - they’re family. At Meraki Studio, one of our most popular custom requests is for pet print jewellery, a way to carry your best friend’s touch wherever you go. What many people don’t realise is that a dog’s paw and nose print are both as unique as a human fingerprint - no two are the same.

If you’re considering a special keepsake or a Christmas gift for a dog lover, this guide will walk you through how to capture your dog’s print using one of our wax kits.

Why Paw Print Jewellery is So Special

For many of us, dogs are constant companions through every stage of life. Preserving their paw print in sterling silver or 9ct gold creates a lasting tribute to their loyalty and love. It can be worn as a necklace or ring - a daily reminder of your furry friend.

Are Paw Prints Really Unique?

Yes! Just like human fingerprints, each dog’s paw pad has a unique pattern of lines, creases, and textures. Even siblings from the same litter have distinct prints. This individuality makes paw print jewellery one of the most personal keepsakes you can own.

How Our Paw Print Wax Kits Work

  1. Order your kit – Your wax kit will arrive in the post with everything you need to take your dog’s paw impression.
  2. Warm the wax – Using a hairdryer or a cup of warm water.
  3. Take the impression – Firmly press the soft wax into your dog's paw or nose, leaving a clear impression.
  4. Send it back – Return the wax to me using the prepaid returns label, and I’ll use the traditional lost wax casting technique to create your custom piece.

Tip: Have treats ready to keep your pup still while taking the impression!

Paw Print Jewellery as a Gift

With Christmas approaching, pet print jewellery makes a thoughtful gift for dog lovers. If time is short, gifting the wax kit itself is a wonderful option. It gives the recipient a meaningful experience to do with their dog, and the excitement of having a custom piece made afterwards.

Handmade with Love

Every paw print piece is handcrafted in my Sydney studio using sterling silver or 9ct gold. I treat each impression with care, ensuring that the tiny details of your dog’s paw are preserved forever.
